Portuguese software will be used in joint space mission … – SAPO Tek

The Portuguese company Critical Software developed the onboard systems of the LISA Pathfinder spacecraft, to be launched into space on December 2. The equipment will have to study the effect of gravitational waves from low frequency to 1.5 million kilometers away from Earth.

The software developed by Critical Software aims ensure the quality, accuracy and reliability of the probe’s onboard software, developed jointly with the European space agency (ESA) and American (NASA).

“This was an extremely challenging project and a very important milestone. We worked with the latest cutting-edge technologies, which are of extreme precision, and that will enable truly innovative scientific findings, allowing us to better understand the universe properties, “said a technical manager statement from Critical Software design, Nuno Silva.

Just yesterday, November 24, ESA published several pictures of the LISA Pathfinder spacecraft showing that the mission hardware is almost ready for release, which expected to take place next week.

The probe is equipped with various precision measuring technology to be able to ‘observe’ with the greatest possible accuracy the two behavior masses that will take inside and whose movements will be analyzed.

The ESA also reveals that this is the first time a human equipment that will have the technology indicated to detect gravitational waves in space.
