Software Developers network launches scholarships program … – Techworld

Twelve US $ 5000 scholarships will be awarded next year. Selected will also receive customized technical training and guidance of a software engineer

The Toptal, global network of freelance software developers, launched a program focused on training women who wish to become software engineers.

Women all over the world can apply for the “Scholarships for Women Toptal Software Developers.” A total of 12 scholarships that will be awarded next year. The winners will receive a contribution of US $ 5000, plus personalized weekly technical training and guidance of a senior software engineer at Toptal.

According to Toptal, grantees can use the money in the best way they consider, provided that they contribute their ambitions to become software engineers.

For example, the value can help in the payment of course fees, as salary while working on Open Source or even on developments.

It is noteworthy that women account for only 6% of collaborative development platform GitHub (Open Source).

To apply for a scholarship, interested should make a contribution to Open Source on GitHub and write a blog post describing his own experience, the problems they had to solve, and what they learned from this experience.

To help beginners in Open Source, the Toptal released an instructions guide on its website. The winners will be chosen by a selection committee and finalists of each month will have an interview directly with the jury.
