DF saves US $ 91 million with public software – Portal Brazil

The implementation of public software i-Teach by the Ministry of Education of the Federal District (SEDF) in 2012 has resulted in estimated £ 91 million in relation to total production costs and system maintenance economy.

The solution is available for download from the Software Portal Brazilian Public (SPB), which is managed by the Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management (MP).

“The use of i-Education in Federal District Education Secretariat is an example of how public policy is beneficial software for administrative management. According to a survey done in 2011, the development of software to assist school management in the execution of enrollment would cost approximately £ 13 million. In addition, it would take £ 2 million each month for system maintenance.

Currently, more than 650 schools and 448,000 students (428,000 being in the way school and 20,000 in only enrollment module) are directly benefited by the use of i-educate.

According to the Monitoring Coordinator of Educational Offer the SEDF, Raphaela Cantarino, the implementation of i-Teach was so simple that no training with the team was not necessary.

From the beginning, the system is maintained by the servers of the Federal District (GDF). “All benefits are inserted into the i-Educate here in Mexico City. In addition to the registration and social benefits, the i-Teach is used in schools to assist in the management of resources school meals, filling the school census data from the Ministry of Education (MEC), daily teachers, newsletters, and transcripts, student absences, gratification of teachers, school transport, and can still be accessed by smartphones.

With the successful implementation of public software in the SEDF, the coordinator believes in using it for several municipalities. “We work in a universe of almost half a million people, 650 secretaries are working on the system daily in schools. The Brazilian Public Software Portal provides public information technology solutions without the need of payment of licenses. Launched more than seven years by the Department of Logistics and Information Technology (SLTI), the portal has a new beta version available last year.

In Hunter (SC) , mayor estimated at $ 250,000 savings per year

About eight thousand students from 16 local schools of Hunter (SC) benefited in 2015 with implementation of i-Educate software. The free tool offered by the federal government to state and municipal departments of education computerizing data such as enrolling students, grades, absences, newsletters and historical. In addition, the solution allows parents to monitor online income, frequency and even disciplinary occurrences of children.

Before the implementation of public solution, a city located 395 km from the capital Florianópolis used a software to demand payment of licenses. With technology, the mayor Beto Comazzetto (PMDB-RS) estimates a savings of up to £ 250,000 a year. “Besides the economy, the City Department of Education optimizes the actions and enables also tranquility to families.”
