Researchers use Google Maps software to explore the … – Digital Journal

With Google Maps is easy to explore the world – already takes us to Greenland, to Fernando de Noronha seas, and a desert of the United Arab Emirates, with the help of a camel – and now you can do the same with the human body .

A new project authored by scientists at the University of New South Wales, Australia, borrowed the algorithms that make Google Maps function to create large and exploitable portions of tissue, coming to a cell individual. The first example joined bone terabytes of data in the basin, scanned with an electron microscope.

The result, which you can see here, is used to analyze the molecular transport nutrients, which last took 25 years to complete -. but it can be done in just a few weeks today, according to the researchers

It is now expected that other institutions use the same techniques in the future – including scientists from Harvard, looking to do something like the rat brain.
