Razer invests in virtual reality device and platform … – Eurogamer.pt

The Razer just join the virtual reality of the race announcing its own device and an open-source software platform that aims to facilitate the development of the contents of this nature.

The reality device Virtual Razer is called OSVR Hacker Dev Kit and is also open-source. The affordability without compromising quality was the main objective, and as such, it costs just $ 199, a lower price than a Oculus Rift kit.

In the official site OSVR anyone can download the model 3D Hacker Dev Kit, make the changes you want and make your own virtual reality kit, allowing cameras to be added, devices that follow the motion and other accessories.

The Hacker OSVR Dev Kit is available only from June, but producers are already showing your interest on the official website.

A level specifications tells a FHD monitor 5.5 inch, 1080×1920 resolution with 60 fps and 401ppi, an optical two lenses to relieve pressure in the eye, a diagonal field of view of 100 ° and a set of sensors comprising accelerometer and gyroscope compass.

In the software platform, support for other devices such as Virtual Reality the Oculus Rift, and game engines like Unreal Engine 3 and Unity.

For now, access to the software platform is restricted to producers, but there are plans for an open public launch in the second quarter 2015.
