Car owners Audi in Portugal may know the ‘site’ of the brand if the vehicle has the ‘software’ which caused an emissions scandal at Volkswagen, reported this Thursday FEIEA Audi Portugal.
In a statement issued today, the Siva, representative of the brand in Portugal, which belongs to the Volkswagen Group, said his clients “can already see in the ‘site’ of the brand, information about your vehicle and find out if he was affected by the ‘software’ which causes discrepancies in nitrogen oxide emissions during dynamometer testing. ”
For this, the owners of these vehicles must enter the vehicle identification number on a platform available in the ‘site’ www.audi.pt or ask for this information via the telephone number 800308030.
The company says that customers “will be timely informed about the solutions to be adapted in their vehicles” and adds that the affected models are the Audi with TDI engines of 1.6-liter or 2.0-liter Diesel type EA 189 and certified according to the standard European EU5 emissions standard, ensuring that “these vehicles continue to circulate power in technically safe conditions, without any restrictions.”
In addition, Audi indicates that TDI engines of 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter diesel certified to the new standard EU6 emissions are not affected, as well as the V6 and V8 TDI engines, whether certified according to the norm EU5 and EU6.
The SIVA, representing the Volkswagen Group in Portugal, put the ‘site’ Volkswagen and Skoda a system that through the chassis number identification, allows owners to know if your car has or not the ‘kit ‘handler greenhouse gas emissions.
The US Environmental Protection Agency accused last Sept. 18 Volkswagen to impair engine performance in terms of greenhouse gas emissions through a ‘software’ embedded in diesel vehicles .
A few days later, Volkswagen acknowledged having falsified the data and announced that more than 11 million diesel cars worldwide have equipment that lets you change the engine performance in terms of emissions to the atmosphere.
