Microsoft develops software to optimize the battery life of … – Tudocelular.com

Microsoft is always working on technologies to facilitate the day-to-day users of their products. This weekend, the company unveiled a new project that could further help those facing problems with battery life for their laptops, and further optimize the energy for times when you need it most .

Research the company have now turned to develop a new technology that makes batteries for laptops and tablets can last longer with a smarter software. The project, dubbed as “Software Defined Batteries” is a software that combines different types of batteries that are optimized for different tasks. The application then works with the operating system to find out what the user wants to open and allows the battery to be more efficient, or less, for this particular task, depending on the case. This is indeed quite interesting.

In addition, the system also learns user habits and uses several techniques to extend battery life, and not only that, but also optimize the battery streamline processes when the user needs. There are some examples of how this new technology could increase the battery life of devices such as laptops or tablets.

One example, according to Microsoft itself, is that the system can recognize that the user connects the tablet every day around 14:45, and then performs a presentation in PowerPoint over every day at 15:00. This means that the computer must be ready to make fast charge at the time, so that the person can do it through this meeting in the afternoon.

In the second example specified in the post of the company, a user can use computer mainly for reading and sending e-mails and Word documents during the day and then start browsing the web and watch videos while in transit back home. Based on these habits, the computer can optimize the load to ensure that the user can do both with the necessary economy so that the “rush hour” is not necessary to recharge the battery.

The system uses the technique known in English as machine learning , or something like “machine learning” to learn the individual habits of a user so that the system can then find the best way to extend the life of battery based on how that person is using the device.

Software Defined Batteries “ is being developed by company researchers, including Bodhi Priyantha, Ranveer Chandra and Anirudh Badam, working on new life optimization approach to battery. Chandra, lead researcher at Microsoft Research, is a little obsessed with extending battery life, so it makes sense that he is among those who head the project.

Instead of waiting for the perfect battery, we are using all the technology available at the time

As the search progresses, Chandra said he sees uses far beyond just laptops and tablets, which is not hard to imagine. Such an approach could eventually be applied to phones, cars and anything else that uses a battery and can run a smart system for new application play a role.

We think you can get the benefits of different types of cells that have already been invented, rather than have to keep waiting for the final battery was invented

It will be interesting to see how Microsoft develops this technology, and it would be no surprise if we see this innovation in new laptops with Windows 10, to be launched in the coming months.
