Opera Software will change hands soon. The company’s management has advised investors and shareholders to accept a purchase offer from a consortium of several Chinese companies.
The offer to purchase the capital of Opera Software, which owns the Opera browser, could amount to around EUR 1 050 million, says the British version of Ars Technica.
the proposal was submitted by a consortium led by background Golden Brick Silk Road, which includes the participation of Qihoo and Kunlun companies.
the possibility of sale of the Norwegian company began to be worked last summer. After reviewing several proposals, the Opera’s management gave the green light to bid led by background Golden Brick Silk Road that guarantees 71 Norwegian kroner (more than seven euros) for each share of Opera.
Given the approval of the administration and that this figure corresponds to almost double the current share price, it seems that Opera Software will change hands.
Although not included in the top three browsers (Chrome , Internet Explorer, and Firefox), Opera browser shows promising business numbers: more than 350 million users have already downloaded this browser; in 2015, the company earned more than EUR 167 million and made a profit of more than 28 million euros.
The investment that is about to be realized may exponenciar the business opportunities of the Opera on the market Chinese – especially through synergies with the services of Qihoo and Kunlun companies
