Windows 10: update will be free even for pirated software – EXAME.com


 São Paulo – In late January, the Microsoft announced that the update to the Windows 10 would be free for computers and smartphones. Now it appears that she will come to pirate software.


 


 In an interview with Reuters, Terry Myerson, head of Windows, said the company “is updating all qualified PCs, genuine and non-genuine, for Windows 10″. Although the report from Reuters be focused on the Chinese market, it was unclear whether the free upgrade to software pirates will also be restricted to the country.

 According to Gizmodo, illegal versions of Windows are a huge problem in the country, with recent estimates suggesting that 75% of PCs running counterfeit copies from there the operating system.


 


 Upgrading to Windows 10 will be free for smartphones with Windows Phone 8.1 system and computers that have versions 7, 8 and 8.1 of the system.


 


 Gizmodo contacted Microsoft to see if the update goes just pirates systems in China, but received no answer yet.
