With the help of drones and software, Christ the Redeemer to get 3D version

The Christ Redeemer is best known postcard of Rio de Janeiro, but, until recently, there was a digital model and three completely accurate dimensions Monument.
That changed after a joint effort between the PUC-Rio, a Canadian manufacturer of drones and a Swiss software company.
Last October, robots made 19 flights about Christ and took 3500 photographs, of which 2000 were used as the basis for the 3D model.
Now, the digital version of Christ can be used by students and to help in restoration of the monument, as happened two years ago, when the tip of one of the right hand fingers was damaged by lightning
The public can also enjoy the 3D Christ the Internet:. You can even see details and angles of the image that are imperceptible to anyone who goes to Rio to meet in person.
