Innovation makes a difference to the developers micro … – Digital Convergence

Ana Paula Lobo * … 09.11.2015 … Digital Convergence

A survey by MPS.BR program – Brazilian Software Process Improvement, coordinated by Softex, called MPS Citizen, found that 48% of companies are concentrated in the Southeast, 33% South, 13 % in the Northeast and 3% in the Northeast and Midwest. The survey also found that 98% of companies are focused on developing software and providing services.

When using the criteria of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) for the determination of gross operating revenues (GOR) yearly, the survey established that 41% are micro-businesses (turnover up to R $ 2.4 million), 40%, small enterprises (between R $ 2.4 and 16 million), 13% medium (between US $ 16 and 90 million), 3% medium-large (between US $ 90 and 300 million) and 3 % large companies (more than R $ 300 million).

In 72% of MPS companies, over 60% of employees are top level and by 50% the average salary exceeds five minimum salaries. “In this case, it can be said that the MPS-SW contributes to the creation of good quality jobs, as top-level e of relatively high wages, which is good for society and the citizen,” said Nelson Franco.

The rate of innovation in product (software and services) of MPS companies is 84% and in the process related to software production methods and 89% services. In Brazil, according to PINTEC (IBGE 2011), both the rate of innovation in product companies of the Information Technology services such as in process is much lower: 38.0% and 37.5%, respectively. “So we can say that the MPS-SW is present in companies with product innovation rates or process significantly above the average of the reference segment, which means favorable economic impacts for society and for the Brazilian citizens,” said Nelson Franco.

The global integration of MPS companies is relatively small, although significant in the case of the average Brazilian organizations: 11% developed software in partnership or form distributed with companies or institutions from other countries and 7% gets more 5% of its ROB due to exports. The study detects that
the more significant are the partnerships and the percentage of revenue from exports of goods and services of greater technological density, such as software, most companies contribute as a variable of Excellence for the dynamism of the national economy, which favors directly or indirectly society and the Brazilian citizen.

The MPS-SW model has also directly contributed in the production process from various sectors of economic activity and the improvement of software development that provides it is relevant as a contribution to society and the citizen. Moreover, according to PINTEC, the acquisition of software by Brazilian innovative companies (industrial and services in general) is the 2nd most important innovative activity of these companies, second only to the acquisition of machinery and equipment.

Among the segments that MPS companies are relevant suppliers, highlight deserve the wholesale or retail trade (27%), public administration, defense and social security (27%), human health and social services (16%), education ( 16%) and financial activities, insurance and related services (14%). The 2nd part of the research MPS Citizen sought to identify the MPS-SW contributions to the citizen and to Brazilian society, regional and national development having as target audience the MPS network of collaborators frontline (instructors, ETM, IOGE, II , IA and ICA). In 399 responses from the words Software (30%), companies (30%) and quality (22%) summarize the point of view of MPS network of front-line employees.

The study used the tool SurveyMonkey Gold to create the questionnaire, collect responses and analyze the results, the first part of the research was to analyze the socioeconomic impact of the MPS-SW in Brazil based on obtained of existing MPS ratings sponsors answers. The Softex sent online questionnaires to 252 sponsors and received 123 responses (49%).

“This information is used by us to continuously improve the MPS-SW model and as an incentive to speed up its diffusion not only in Brazil but also abroad, “explains Nelson Franco, Quality Manager of Softex. Check out the full research in http://www.softex.br/noticias/mps-cidadao/ address
