Volkswagen admits use of fraudulent software testing cars – IT Forum 365

The director of government affairs at Volkswagen do Brazil, Antonio Megale, reported that 17,000 trucks Amarok sold in the country by the automaker have been equipped with software that defrauds pollutant emissions testing. The statement was made during public hearing in the Joint Committee on Climate Change (CMMC) held on Thursday (12/11).

The executive pointed out, however, that emissions these vehicles did not exceed the limits prescribed by the laws. “We’ve had the results of the first tests and to our happiness, regardless of the software’s presence, the trucks comply with the emission limits currently established in Brazil. At no time, there was damage to the environment and consumers.”

The verification is done via a software embedded in diesel cars, according to the organ, identify when it was being done tests on the vehicle, consume less fuel and thus reduce the greenhouse gas emissions.
