Software INPE reaches 200 million users mark – Brazil Portal

Spring , free software developed by the National Institute for Space Research (INPE / MCTI) in September surpassed the mark of 200 million users on Wednesday (8). For applications of remote sensing and mapping, geographic information system is the most used in Brazil by researchers and students.

With image processing functions , spatial analysis, numerical modeling of terrain and querying spatial databases, Spring can be used in many areas such as agriculture, environmental management, forest studies, geography, geology, urban and regional planning.

The software is also used by members of Colombia, United States, Spain, Argentina, Portugal, France, Mexico, Peru, India, Venezuela, Italy, Chile and Germany, among other countries.

The main objectives of the tool are building a geographic information system for applications in Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Management, Geography, Geology, Planning Urban and Regional, and t ornar widely accessible for the Brazilian community GIS ( Management Information System ) fast learning.

OS Spring also seeks to provide a unified environment and geoprocessing s Remote ensoriamento for urban and environmental applications; s er a mechanism for dissemination of knowledge developed by INPE and its partners in the form of new algorithms and methodologies.
