Software calculates the right amount of feed in fish farming – Rural Globe

 In fish farming , one of the biggest challenges is to find a balance between the amount of feed offered and the growth of fish. Virtually all species are very sensitive to a number of factors, including small changes in water temperature and oxygen level . “When you try to make these calculations empirically, without the help of a smart tool , the production often suffer losses,” says Dalton Sales, zootecnista and founding partner of startup AgroInova , which specializes in innovative solutions focused on agribusiness.

  The company created a software specific to the farmer market , the InovaPeixe, which allows an optimization of management and fish development.

  calculation algorithms created by AgroInova allow the measurement of results and data cross between indicators such as water temperature, the fish weight and the amount of oxygen available in the tanks to show how much should be offered to feed every day.

 The amount of feed is hardly the same every day. “When the water temperature rises, the fish consume more feed. If it falls, reduces consumption, for example, “says Sales. “As these are factors that can change at any time, the calculation tools play a key role,” explains Adriano Romero, member of Sales.

 The new version of the app allows the farmer control inventories and daily use of feed , as in the software, as well as earning the growth of fish and indicate the necessary adjustments.

 One of the companies that have used the tool is GeneSeas, producer tilapia which recently received contribution Aqua Capital investment fund.

 With units in São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul, GeneSeas spent using InovaPeixe in January this year. “The main goal was to improve the management, a goal we have achieved quite successfully,” says John Aquino, administrative manager and the company’s control.

 Aquino cites some results: the improvement in feed conversion, cost reduction , improving fish growth curve and higher predictability in sales volume are among the most important. “We have a bunch of fish in the water, all growing in a very balanced way. The possibility of remote management and exploitation of the worker by means of a tablet are also benefits provided by the software and the app, “says Aquino.
