The uTorrent, one of the download management clients via world’s most popular torrent, is involved in a great controversy. According to the user ‘Groundrunner’ after upgrading to 3.4.2 version of the program, the software performs the installation of another program, called EpicSale, without the user being aware of it.

great controversy, however, is the work that this software runs on the user’s machine. The goal is EpicSale enjoy the full power of the computer when it is not being used to generate bitcoins. This seems like a very quiet way of getting revenue.

The uTorrent already using commercials as a way to make money. However, it seems that this has not been a sufficiently attractive way to meet the developers.

The Verge got an official response from BitTorrent Inc. on the subject. According to the company statement, “there is no silent installation and the user accepts the installation of this software during the installation of uTorrent.” In addition, the company points out that the installation of the program is always optional. “We have several partners who install software through your torrent client, but are always optional” he said.

Although some users say otherwise and that you can not prevent the installation of EpicSale during the upgrade, you may choose to use download software alternatives via torrent if you want to avoid the risk of being affected by bitcoins generator.
