DARPA is developing “live” software that never gets … – TeK.sapo

The Projects Agency Advanced Search of Defense (DARPA its acronym in English) is working on a software type that is not outdated. It is the very organization who says the program would be able to operate for a century of safe and reliable.

The goal is to kill all the problems associated with the software update, which can range from the development time of the update, not to the support of several machines.

The research program BRASS, as is known, will have a duration of four years to discover the “computational foundations” and the requirements in terms of algorithms to create software that remains “robust” and ” functional “even after a hundred years of use.

But how DARPA aims to create a centenary software? Creating a program that can adapt dynamically to changes in resource which depends directly and according to the environment in which it operates, said in a statement entity.

This means that software developed would have the ability to perceive certain parameters of their use and adapt their functionality to these requirements or trend. It would therefore be something similar to a “live” software, a software that adapts to the environment.

“The failure to respond to changes can result in technically inferior and potentially vulnerable systems,” says a press note of the elements related to the program BRASS, Suresh Jagannathan.

In addition to simplifying the software maintenance process, DARPA hopes that this new methodology can contribute to a reduction of expenses related to the programs.

The agency linked to the US defense industry is also working on an alternative to GPS tracking.
