Bug in software makes US loose more than 3,000 prisoners before … – Look Digital

A software failure caused the State of Washington in the United States, would release about 3,200 prisoners ahead of time.

The problem started in 2012 when there was an update on the program that calculates points for good behavior. She came with a fault which caused 3% of inmates receive credits more.

Echoing the BBC, Gizmodo reports that the bug was noticed in the same year, but nothing was done immediately to corrected it. As a result, the released prisoners received an average of 49 days unduly – but there is at least one case where a person has obtained more than 600 days

The solution must finally be put into practice on January 7.. Meanwhile, all prisoners released ahead of time will return to fulfill the rest of their sentences. At least those who did not cause problems on the streets during this period will receive real credits for good behavior.
