Facial recognition software controls the faithful present in … – Globo.com

A US company has just launched a facial recognition software for churches. The “Churchix” controls the people who go to church. For example, if a pastor or a priest wants to know what faithful attended the service or Mass, he can use this new technology.

Through the photos of the faithful in the system upload, the software automatically identifies the person when she goes to the church and records the presence.

The use of easy recognition software raises the discussion about privacy, since anyone with access to this technology can track individuals even without authorization and against their will. In addition to this new kind used in churches, it is already used in supermarkets, shopping malls and other establishments.
