Advertising proprietary software removed 1125 sites … – Review Computers

Several websites Public Administration from European countries were advertising the reading of proprietary software PDFs, but a campaign of six years carried out by the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) was able to remove this 1125 sites content – which is equivalent to 53% of all identified pages -., advance notice of the National Association for Free Software (ANSOL)

To bring the campaign to a successful conclusion, FSFE wrote letters to the authorities concerned and also gathered signatures for a petition calling for an end to the announcement of proprietary software products in government sites. In total, 90 organizations, 63 businesses and 2731 individuals have signed the petition.

In Portugal, 15 cases were identified. Nine of them have already been corrected, but six still remain: Municipality of Coimbra, General Directorate of Higher Education, Directorate General of Taxation, the Foundation for Science and Technology, Camões Institute and the University of Coimbra
