Volkswagen admits swap cars with handler software – AutoPortal

The Volkswagen is studying the exchange of cars with emissions handler software for new vehicles. This is the worst scenario that should appear in the German group action plan, to be unveiled this Wednesday, October 7.

According to Bloomberg, citing sources close to the process, reveals that the costs repair which will vary between 20 and 10 thousand euros per car.

Repairs to the 11 million vehicles picked up by so-called “Dieselgate” worldwide may also change from country to country.

The detailed plan should also include various types of repairs. The 2.0 TDI engines, one AdBlue tank can be installed.

This device, already installed in some of the new TDI contributes to reducing emissions of these cars, to use an additive (AdBlue) created the urea-based and demineralized water.

from mixing with the flue gas, nitrogen oxide (NOx) is converted into water and nitrogen, reducing emissions of harmful gases.

In smaller engines, as is the case of the 1.6 TDI, which already include nitrogen oxide collection systems, the solution is technically more complicated and may require the installation of larger catalysts
