Volkswagen fraud software can be higher than if … – Look Digital

The controversy involving Volkswagen software that defrauds the amount of emission of pollutants in vehicles appears to be greater than previously thought. According to The New York Times, the automaker warned on Thursday, 22, who is investigating the possibility of other cars having programs that also allow tampering.

Earlier this week, Reuters released a report pointing out that Volkswagen has developed several versions of the solution capable of handling test results. Sources also claim that a number of employees may be involved in the case.

In September, the company confessed to having used one able to identify when a diesel vehicle software was being tested, temporarily reducing greenhouse gas emissions in order to get a good performance in the race. So far, about 11 million cars and commercial vehicles, including models Golf, Passat and Jetta, were affected.

According to the company, the defect can be fixed with a software update or mechanical adjustments.

The Volkswagen spokesman declined to comment on the total number of cars that may have been affected.

Brazil

In Brazil, models 2011 and 2012 the Amarok pickup may have information incorrect pollutants. The manufacturer announced that it will send letters to owners of cars from the first quarter of 2016 to the system to be updated.
