VW engine software evaluates whether the latest diesel too … – UOL

BERLIN (Reuters) – Volkswagen is investigating whether the cars with old versions of your current diesel engines may have used the software rigged data pollutant emissions testing, which could extend the scandal that rocked the German automaker .

The largest automaker in Europe vehicles admitted on September 18 that he used illegal software to handle emissions testing on diesel vehicles in the United States, which caused the biggest crisis in its business in its history .

The Volkswagen reported that vehicles may have been equipped with data manipulation software elsewhere, and calculated up to 11 million vehicles with its diesel engine EA 189 affected worldwide.

US regulators said they are also investigating the “generation 3″ vehicles of Volkswagen in the United States, containing the latest diesel engine, EA 288. But it was unclear whether these engines are being examined elsewhere.

“Other generations EA 288 are currently being examined,” he said in a statement Volkswagen emailed on Thursday, after the German news DPA agency report that the scandal of gas emissions may cover other types of engines.

The Volkswagen said the current generation of the EA 288 was not affected, but no further details in his statement and was not immediately available for further comment.
