The Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES) today announced its new president, Francisco Camargo. The members were chosen by election held on March 29, with the annual renewal of one third of the board of the association. All positions shall be maintained for the next three years.

The Abes is responsible for the creation and maintenance of various legal regulations and the tax software industry in Brazil. The organization also has a constant presence in forums and defense movements of intellectual property in relation to software creation and combating piracy.

The association has about 1,600 companies have agreements or associated in 23 Brazilian states, plus the Federal district. These companies account for 85% of sales in the segment of software development and marketing in Brazil and 33% of the total turnover of the IT industry. In 2014, this amount was equivalent to US $ 60 billion (about US $ 217 billion) in software sales, IT services and hardware .
