US rejects Volkswagen’s plans for cars with ‘software … – RTP

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) said today that the proposals of the German car manufacturer “is incomplete, substantially disabled and are far from meeting the legal requirements” to rectify the problem of emissions.

Also the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA, for its acronym in English), which is awaiting formal proposals from Volkswagen, has the same opinion.

“EPA agrees with CARB. Volkswagen has not submitted a plan that can be approved for vehicles to pass to fulfill [environmental requirements] and to reduce pollution. The EPA sent it prior to the company,” said today the agency.

These comments come on the eve of the chief executive of Volkswagen, Matthias Mueller, meet with the EPA to discuss the plans of the German construction company compared to 600,000 cars just in the United States who have illegal equipment, which handles pollutant emissions excess vehicles.

The problem, which affects about 11 million vehicles `diesel` worldwide, largely penalized the reputation of the German mark and unleashed processes of investigation in several countries.
