After changing its plant in Rio Grande do Sul to the city of Itumbiara, in Goiás, the manufacturer of generator sets STEMAC also invests in the transfer of its headquarters. With its own data center, the company with 35 branches in the country and 2600 employees, had to revise its strategy. In changing their administrative headquarters and plant, the STEMAC invested R $ 200 million. The solution was to leave for an alternative and seek new partners. “We chose São Paulo for the wider range of partners and coming technology providers,” said Sergio Ucoski, IT manager at STEMAC.
In this phase, the IT staff of the manufacturer of generator sets, taking advantage of the movement company changes, thought about making a renewal of some of the data center equipment. Two storages legacy, with storage capacity of 30 terabytes, for example, were already with the guarantee expiring in December 2014 and June 2015.

Speed and processing consolidation, facility management and space reduction are among the benefits obtained by STEMAC. “We went from a storage which occupied half of an IT rack, plus a blade server consuming another 40% of the space, to 10% occupancy rack with nutanix. Currently almost all virtual desktops STEMAC already run on nutanix platform, reaching some 300 users. Every environment with very high redundancy, availability and performance. “But we know very well that we can use nutanix platform in many other situations, are virtual servers, replication, database, big data or any other virtual workload,” said Lazzarotto.
All applications from the data center of the company are in a private cloud, such as SAP, Oracle, engineering applications, email and CAD 3D. They are information of more than 20 years of company operation. “I can say that we are creating a new IT for the company,” said Ucoski. Without disclosing the investment made in the nutanix platform, IT manager at STEMAC states that the initial value of planned investment in the previous format with legacy equipment, there were still resources to spare. “We had a financial savings in the range of 20% compared to traditional storage, not to mention the projections of other economies that the solution provides,” added the executive.
