Manaus – A project that allows you to write using brain signals was presented on the afternoon of Tuesday ( 22) in Manaus. Innovation titled “Mental Mouse” integrates digital technologies to search on a tiara that captures the brain waves of the user and sends them to a computer via Bluetooth.

Developed by the State University of Amazonas (UEA) along with the Map Technology company, the software installed on the computer measures the levels of care and brain user meditation. Thus, through an artificial intelligence system, you can select letters to write the word that the patient wants.

The aim of the ” Mental Mouse ” is to make people without the ability of speech or gestures can communicate through waves produced by the brain.

According to Professor electronics UEA, Manuel Cardoso, the next step for the project is to test the software in patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Left (ALS). “We will seek two neurologists and a physiotherapist to accompany the first test in an ALS patient to put the project into practice.” He said.

For the software developer, Marcel Cunha, during the tests , other findings were obtained using the program. These include, for example, the mapping of the key words a person uses their daily lives. Everything, he said, to adapt the system for each user.

” For me, it was something very satisfying because I have the opportunity to apply the knowledge I acquired in college and learn a little more in areas such as medicine, in something I can help in society ”, quoted engineering student, Fabricio Guimarães.
