Microsoft is developing software that transforms cameras … – Adrenaline

The Microsoft showed a video of the project MobileFusion , an application that turns the camera of any smartphone into a 3D scanner. To demonstrate the technology, Microsoft’s research group used an iPhone 5s, which can scan objects and make three-dimensional digital models.

Some 3D models are not accurate and detailed, but the project is still being developed. Another interesting point is that the iPhone does not have a dedicated hardware for this functionality, such as Google Tango tablet, which can make digital replicas almost faithful thanks to sensors mirrored by the device.

MobileFusion does not yet have an expected release date . In addition to being compatible with the iPhone, the group plans to make the software compatible with Android and Windows Phone smartphones.
