Pixar offers software to create animated films – Exame Informática

The Pixar animation studios announced they will offer Universal Scene Description Tool (USD) as open source. The choice of open source allows more users can have access to an IT solution at no cost. The tool makes various entertainment apps have based on a “unique setting”, which facilitates the process, particularly when there are several companies to collaborate in a single film, explains the Engadget .

The release of the Pixar explains that the USD responds to the growing need in the computer-generated movies and gaming industry to have an effective way to “describe, assemble, change and modify virtual sets with high complexity of the different tools content creation. ” At this stage, Pixar is working with different partners to collect reviews, feedback and comments on the integration of USD other tools.

Remember that Pixar announced in March the supply of Renderman software, also another tool used to create animated films.
